![]() Hey! Though I'm a BRD main, I play PLD and DRK (while also having AST and SCH) so I hope my weigh-in counts for something. Sorry if this all sounds very newbish or scrubby but I'm still pretty new to tanking and want to do the best I can! I'd rather take my hits now and learn early so I can not be a liability when it's time to tank big boy content at 70. So how do you guys handle these kind of mechanics? Is it just generally kind of expected that you'll have to eat a big attack now and then and the healer should be ready to respond? Am I overthinking things and should put more trust in my healers? Maybe it's not actually a problem, but again I feel like by doing this I'm once again putting undue stress on my healer that could be prevented. It's not enough to kill you, but I hate putting that stress on my healer.Īnother issue arises when I factor in that I'm holding onto those CD's instead of using them throughout the fight to smooth incoming damage. What I found was that I actually CANT mitigate every one of them! As a DRK you only really have 2 big mitigation cooldowns (as far as I know) and your "oh shit" button, all of which are on long enough cooldowns that for at least one tankbuster attack you will be eating its full force. I understand that it's my job to mitigate that damage so I'm holding on to my mitigation cooldowns specifically for those attacks. Specifically, I'm wondering how other folks handle tankbusters.Įxample: Today I decided to pop in to Susano normal (I did it as DPS during the story) for practice because I know he has a very clear tankbuster in phase 2. So far I've got him to 67 and haven't had trouble with any content, but I feel like I could be doing better. So lately I've been playing a ton of Dark Knight and really loving it.
