Considering pickings are already slim enough around the coastal waters mission area, not having any of the tonnage count is really frustrating.Ĭould someone explain exactly what I need to do, step by step, to complete this mission? And, if it really is a bug and not just that I'm missing something obvious, what can I do to help? Killing ships within ~50km of the patrol point doesn't count (and that's after waiting forever for a ship to actually come NEAR the point). I've heard all kinds of differing accounts but nothing's helping me: killing ships inside the red line (the mission area) doesn't count. However, I've had this problem where no matter what I do, none of the kills count. I don’t know how that would work exactly - but chances are there’s a way for you to manipulate SH3 into thinking you’re running a different resolution, thus potentially resolving your issue.įor me, I can use the Nvidia control panel that comes with the Graphic Card to fool the computer and by extension SH3 into thinking that my native resolution is different, you could try doing that to see if it fixes your issue.Originally posted by Eggmayonaise:I'm playing through the first mission, and doing the british coastal waters mission (where you have to sink ~50,000 tons). I heard that the Steam version of the game comes with critical updates for making the game compatible with modern hardware, if you got SH3 from elsewhere, then getting those updates might be worthwhile looking into, even if you plan on using a outdated screen resolution. If it’s of any interest, I’m running the game with a modern standard 1920 x 1080 resolution, I bought my copy of SH3 vanilla through Steam. In my installation process of the game and mods I never got the error “Cannot initialise 3D engine” which means I’m afraid that I’m at a loss as to what could help your case. ![]() Or if you know of any other good widescreen mods for SH3 that one could use instead then feel free to tell about those also. What might cause my computer’s inability to launch SH3 with the ARB WideGui mod? If any of you guys managed to get it working please do tell how you did it. I have the Steam version of SH3, and my computer runs Windows 10 as the operating system. The thing is that all the mods I run EXECPT the ARB WideGui mod seem to work just fine, after my disappointment earlier, I decided to try and install the ‘CONUS’ widescreen mod, and it worked just fine without trouble. The guide will have you install a new ‘launcher’ for the game, within which you can apply necessary mods, patches and fixes much more easily.Įverything was smooth sailing until I completed the final steps of the guide and installed the ARB WideGui mod as I had wanted to - only to realise that the mod wasn’t changing anything in the game upon boot up with the mod enabled. I am sure there are several ways of modding the game, but this one I found is really great. So I finally decided to give SH3 a try, and after looking around the internet I found this guide on how to get your game running with both GWX and the ARB WideGui mod (to pick just one example of a widescreen mod). ![]() ![]() ![]() I saw Wolfpack345 on YouTube play SH3 with the GWX add-on and the ARB WideGui mod (among several other smaller mods), and the graphics seemed much up to date in spite of the age of the game. It seems that many people in the community fanatically insist that SH3 is in fact better than SH5, provided you install the right mods. After playing SH5 and enjoying it with the TWOS add-on I decided to try out SH3.
