Especially for a casual player with steam this is a very bad experience, and feels redundant. First you encounter it ingame that asks you to login, then you go to a website to sign up, then you need to link it to steam (which is difficult to find), and then login at both the website and ingame. It's also search engine crawlers that get a huge number of downloads, unless you protect against that.īut IMHO, more importantly it's a huge hassle to get this account. I don't think the difference in these numbers is just piracy vs legit copies. Ive experienced this with my downloaded and auto-updated Factorio through many. Hope this will encourage them to buy this nice game, because the devs deserve it. The solution is right here : 94% of factorio players are not legit. But I suppose the fact that we've basically not heared about that issue until recently means that even those rarely live that long.Binbinhfr wrote:Oh yes ! I was wondering why my WaterWell mod that was downloaded more than 30.000 times from the old 0.12 factorio site was now only downloaded less than 2000 times on 0.13. Risking this for what is obviously a case on the very edge is probably not worth it, although, as someone else said, this is a little more important for long term hosted multiplayer games. Within that lies a potentially massive variance of impact this could have, simply because it concerns every single damn little thing in the entire game everywhere. Quantifying this generalized for all PCs might be very much not straight forward, and they'd probably have to do a lot of testing and profiling to optimize the new structures as much as possible. Given how deeply Wube optimized their data structures, down to memory alignment level, I could also imagine that this could mean that everything shifts into a less desirable layout in memory and/or cache because of the additional 4 bytes, messing things up further. I'm not too up to date on architectural details, but even deep into the 64 bit era accessing them stayed slower than only 32 bits. I almost assume that every entity carries an "age" value with it, which would have to be brought from 32 to 64 bits alongside and updated every single tick. Look both ways before you cross the tracks. The only significance is life, which leads to the further wisdom. Every assembler is but a visitor to where it resides. Let your anxiety wash away as you perceive that every belt placed can be moved. ![]() Most games punish you for building, demolishing and rebuilding.
